TRAVEL | Lima, Peru - food art to try

Peru like many countries around, has a lot of different things to offer. Here I'm gonna focus just on peruvian cuisine and Lima - the capital.

The cuisine of Peru I would call fusion. It's like that because of many immigrants from different nations, who used local products and applied it into combinations they know. The result is beautiful (just like the esthetic of japanese dishes) and tasty (but very different that I used to know before I tried). What really impressed me was the amount of different types of potatoes from sweet to salty and from white to burgundy. Same with the corn. In general the taste combinations and structure of food are very unexpected.
We stayed in Hilton Lima Miraflores which I truly reccommend for design and view, but especially for impressive breakfast - could be counted as a separate food experience with the luxoriously served separate menu and beautifully done buffet (unfortunattely no pics from Hilton breakfast).

For lunch we visited very locally known restaurant with outstanding view (that's the one on the headland). The restaurant is serving quite traditional peruvian cuisine.

After a nice lunch we enjoyed nearby area - walk through Circuito de Playas with many parks on the upper part full of paragliders and ocean fullfilled with surfers. According to the beach - it's good to remember that it's a stone beach, not sand. I personally prefer sand, but stone has its own charm when the waves are moving stones (it's a beautiful sound).

Finally, when it came to the dinner, we choosed the option the closest to our hotel. The restaurant amaZ - one of the best with amazonian cuisine (slightly different than traditional - from even more unusual ingredients, but the concept is the same). Very fancy food and interesting, modern interior of the restaurant. I would go back. Just take a look on pictures:

As of now - that was it about Lima. I hope to be back to Peru in some time. Thank you so much for visiting my blog!

TRAVEL | Stylish life in Buenos Aires

Currently in Europe is summer, Santiago welcome winter so that means changing of wardrobe. That brings my memories to last year when we had a trip to Buenos Aires and then to London. It's been quite fashionable trip because of character of both cities. Here are the best things of Buenos Aires.

Avenida 9 de Julio with El Obelisco far far away

Buenos Aires was glorious in 90's. It was really fashionable place for rich people, full of luxury brands and spots. After the financial crisis in 2001, BA started to fade, also most of luxury brands went out from the market. Now, the city is starting to raise again, so that's a good moment to visit.

Argentinians from BA are strongly influenced by europe's fashion. Perfect type of beauty suppose to be like Evita Peron - taller, thin, blonde and with light skin. Locals from Buenos Aires like to mix casual with some touch of formal but with latest trends. Stylish flat shoes and leather accessories are also quite popular there. In Buenos Aires there is a lot of gorgeous parks which makes this city as a place to walk but pavements not made for heels, so again - flat shoes!!! Althought, it's more conservative city than e.g. London so to avoid being clearly seen as a tourist it's better to skip shorts and also like in UK it's always good to have small umbrella in case of rain. :)

One of beautiful parks in Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires style
When we were visiting some stores, I discovered also many bohemian style brands and really great quality leather products stores. I thing both are great things to buy from there.

The most beautiful shopping mall to me is "Galerias Pacifico". It's a wonderful building with luxury touch, full of great paintings on the walls with more than 100 years of history. There you can find the best argentinian (and not only argentinian) brands.
My favourittes so far are: Rapsodia (luxury bohemian style) and Maria Cher (my favouritte Argentinian premium designer).

In Buenos Aires we stopped in Hotel Hilton Buenos Aires.  I found Hilton BA as a perfect place for a fancy drink in the evening. The huge hall makes it feels very modern fashion spot. The hotel was in movie "Nine queens". The extra plus is hotel is placed on Puerto Madero - another place "to see".

Hilton Buenos Aires in Puerto Madero, hall.

When it comes to food in Buenos Aires, my favourittes I would recommend are:
  • medialunas - sweet pastry in moon shape (slightly similar to croissands, but smaller)
  • provoleta - it's a slide of grilled cheese with herbs (perfect for apetizer to share)
  • milanesa - in Argentina in general meat is excellent but this one is my fav. It's a slide of fillet meat served with lemon.
  • alfajores con dulce de leche - dessert "cookies" stuffed with dulce de leche (looks a bit like caramel)
Milanesa steak with cheese, sauce and herbs. Yummy!

To do:

  • Visit Recoleta (district full of nice architecture) and Cementary - Yes, CEMENTARY. In Buenos Aires there is one of the most interesting cementaries in the world. It can be quite inspirational and relaxing as far nobody makes noise in such a place. Remember - don't go there too late - it's an old cementary so it can make thrills...

  • Drink a coffee in El Ateneo Grand Splendid - impressive and beautiful bookstore placed in former theatre. This is very good place for book and architecture lovers.

El Ateno Grand Splendid details (down there are tons of books).

  • Try their meat and wine and watch tango show. Some restaurants offer the evenings with dinner and tango - it's a very fun (and tasty) way of spending evening time.

TRAVEL | The magic of Budapest, Hungary

Before getting there, I was expecting great, but not incredibly much. In the end I found Budapest as a one of the most impressive cities of EU. If you want to see some mystery places and enjoy architecture and classical music, follow my trip :)

The trip was more than one year ago (Feb 2016) but still I like to recall it, especially because it's been our first trip after engagement. Going there we took from Cracow (Poland) overnight international train with bedrooms. It was very cosy, we had 1st class bedroom with snacks and drinks. I would love to repeat train experience :)
In Budapest there is a several very best luxury hotels and in one of them we stopped. The name is Corinthia Hotel Budapest and it's very in style of The Grand Budapest Hotel. Luxury, marvellous and with great service who was spoiling us :) I already need to recommend their Sunday brunch.

Definitelly must place to visit is Hungarian State Opera House (Magyar Allami Operahaz). We went there for classical music concert. In another one - Erkel Theatre Budapest, we went for modern adaptation of La Traviata. Nothing better than sharing the experience :)

For food experience:

  • Bock Bisztro - local, hungarian cuisine with incredible "Bizzare" ice cream selection for dessert (wasabi, sausage, tobacco)
  • Brasserie and Atrium - Sunday brunches in Corinthia Hotel with the best variety of food with traditional hungarian folklore show
hungarian floklore show
  • Cafe New York Budapest - very luxury and decorative restaurant in reinassance style nearby New York Palace hotel with hungarian and austrian style food.

  • Wasabi Sushi & Wok - running sushi in boats. Great variety and innovative food
that was a coffee :)

In general, in Budapest there is so many great restaurants for any budget that it could be difficult to list all of the places. Maybe after next time in there :)

LIFESTYLE | The best of 2016

Recently passed year 2016 was definitelly amazing to me. The things I achevied already opened new chapter in my life.
Every year I do some kind of evaluation of  the year and this is resume what happened in 2016:

The year started in New York in such a glamorous way (the link to post about New York: http://eldoorado.blogspot.cl/2016/02/christmas-in-new-york.html and http://eldoorado.blogspot.cl/2015/12/new-years-eve-2016.html )
I got engaged (the post is comming!!!), I travelled somewhere almost every month and I did my first luxury cruise (also - posts are comming soon), I get very great friendship and started new project for future. I also improved another language - español and my health (again - post about healthy and fit tips is comming!). Up to now I've been in 24 countries with plans for more. But actually these are just a few of things I've done. The year has 365 days and each of little moments shared with my friends and family made whole time very happy and full of joy. I'm grateful for everything...

New Years Eve 2017 I spent with my beloved and his very nice friends and french champagne (new NYE tradition). It was so much fun with a lot of sparklings...
In the end I always believe that next year 2017 is going to be even better. Keep following ;)
